ന്യൂഡൽഹി: ‘കേരള’ അല്ല, ഇനിമുതൽ ‘കേരളം’. ഭരണഘടനയിൽ സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ പേര് ‘കേരളം’ എന്നാക്കണമെന്ന സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ഏറെനാളത്തെ ആവശ്യം കേന്ദ്രസർക്കാർ അംഗീകരിച്ചു. ഇതിനുവേണ്ടി പാർലമെന്റിൽ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച ബില്ലിന് ഇന്നത്തെ കേന്ദ്ര മന്ത്രിസഭായോഗം അംഗീകാരം നൽകി. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ പുതിയ ഓഫീസായ ‘സേവാ തീർത്ഥി’ൽ ചേർന്ന ആദ്യ മന്ത്രിസഭാ യോഗമാണ് അംഗീകാരം നൽകിയത്.

സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ പേര് ഭരണഘടനയുടെ ഒന്നാം പട്ടികയിൽ ‘കേരള’ എന്നാണ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഇത് ‘കേരളം’ എന്നാക്കി ഭേദഗതി
ചെയ്യണമെന്നായിരുന്നു സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ആവശ്യം.ഇതിനുവേണ്ടിയുള്ള
അടിയന്തര നടപടികൾ ഭരണഘടനയുടെ അനുച്ഛേദം 3 പ്രകാരം കൈക്കൊള്ളണമെന്ന്
ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് 2024 ജൂണിൽ കേരള നിയമസഭ പ്രമേയം പാസാക്കിയിരുന്നു. ഈ
ആവശ്യമാണ് കേന്ദ്ര മന്ത്രിസഭയുടെ പരിഗണനയ്ക്ക് വന്നത്.

2023 ഓഗസ്​റ്റിലും ഇതേ ആവശ്യമുന്നയിച്ച് കേരള നിയമസഭ പ്രമേയം
പാസാക്കിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ചില സാങ്കേതിക പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി
കേന്ദ്രം അത് മടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.ഭരണഘടനയുടെ ഒന്നാം പട്ടികയിലും എട്ടാം
പട്ടികയിലും മാ​റ്റം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടായിരുന്നു ആദ്യ പ്രമേയം. എന്നാൽ, ഒന്നാം
പട്ടികയിൽ മാത്രം മാ​റ്റം വരുത്തിയാൽമതിയെന്നായിരുന്നു കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ നിർദ്ദേശം. ഇതനുസരിച്ചാണ് പരിഷ്‌കരിച്ച പ്രമേയം നിയമസഭ പാസാക്കി കേന്ദ്രത്തിന് വീണ്ടും അയച്ചത്.
