ന്യൂഡൽഹി : പ്രശസ്ത എഴുത്തുകാരനും കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്‌കാര ജേതാവുമായ ഓംചേരി എൻഎൻ പിള്ള അന്തരിച്ചു. 100 വയസായിരുന്നു. ഡൽഹിയിലെ സെന്റ് സ്‌റ്റീഫൻസ് ആശുപത്രിയിലായിരുന്നു അന്ത്യം. കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം, കേരളശ്രീ എന്നീ ബഹുമതികൾ നൽകി സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആദരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. വൈക്കം ടിവി പുരത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള മൂത്തേടത്തുകാവെന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ പി. നാരായണപിള്ളയുടെയും പാപ്പിക്കുട്ടിയമ്മയുടെയും ഇളയമകനായി 1924 ഫെബ്രുവരി ഒന്നിനാണ് ഓംചേരി എൻ.എൻ. പിള്ളയുടെ ജനനം.
വൈക്കം ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് ഹൈസ്‌കൂളിലെ പഠനത്തിനു ശേഷം ആഗമാനന്ദ സ്വാമികളുടെ ആലുവയിലെ അദ്വൈതാശ്രമത്തിൽ താമസിച്ചു രണ്ടു വർഷം സംസ്‌കൃതവും വേദവും പുരാണ ഇതിഹാസങ്ങളും പഠിച്ചു. കോട്ടയം സിഎംഎസ് കോളജിലെ ഇന്റർമീഡിയറ്റ് പഠനത്തിനു ശേഷം തിരുവനന്തപുരം യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി കോളജിൽ നിന്ന് ഇസ്ലാമിക് ചരിത്രവും സംസ്‌കാരവും എന്ന വിഷയത്തിൽ ബിരുദമെടുത്തു. തുടർന്ന് 1951ൽ ആകാശവാണിയിൽ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായി ഡൽഹിയിലെത്തി. പിന്നീടങ്ങോട്ട് ഡൽഹി ഓംചേരിയുടെ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി മാറുകയായിരുന്നു.
ആകാശവാണി മലയാളം വാർത്താവിഭാഗത്തിൽ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായി ദില്ലിയിലെത്തിയ ഓംചേരി പിന്നീട് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണ വിഭാഗം എഡിറ്റർ, പ്രചരണ വിഭാഗം ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥൻ എന്നീ ചുമതലകൾ വഹിച്ചു. 1962ൽ കേന്ദ്ര ഇൻഫർമേഷൻ സർവീസിൽ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായി.
അമേരിക്കയിലെ പെൻസിൽവാനിയ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി, മെക്സിക്കൻ സ്റ്റേറ്റ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി, വാട്ടൻ സ്‌കൂൾ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ മാസ് കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷനിൽ ഉന്നത പഠനം നടത്തി മടങ്ങിയെത്തിയശേഷം ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇന്സ്റ്റിറ്റിയൂട്ട് ഒഫ് മാസ് കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷനിൽ പ്രൊഫസറായി. ചീഫ് സെൻസേഴ്സ് ഓഫീസ്, ഫുഡ് കോർപറേഷൻ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്ത ഓംചേരി 1989 ഫെബ്രുവരി 1ന് കേന്ദ്ര സർവീസിൽ നിന്നു വിരമിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് ഭാരതീയ വിദ്യാഭവനിലെത്തിയ ഓംചേരി 2019 ഡിസംബർ വരെ അവിടെ ജോലി ചെയ്തു.
ആകസ്‌മികം എന്ന ഓർമ്മക്കുറിപ്പിനാണ് 2020ലെ കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചത്. ഒൻപത് മുഴുനീള നാടകങ്ങളും 80 ഏകാങ്കങ്ങളും രചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 1972ൽ ‘പ്രളയം’ എന്ന നാടകത്തിന് കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്‌ക്കാരവും സാഹിത്യ പ്രവർത്തക സഹകരണ സംഘം പുരസ്‌ക്കാരവും ലഭിച്ചു. 2010ൽ സമഗ്ര സംഭാവനയ്ക്കുള്ള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്‌ക്കാരവും ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.ഡൽഹിയിലെ മലയാളിക്കൂട്ടായ്‌മകളുടെയെല്ലാം കാരണവരായി എന്നും ഓംചേരി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അന്തരിച്ച പദ്‌മശ്രീ ലീല ഓംചേരിയാണ് ഭാര്യ. ലോക്സഭയിൽ പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവായിരുന്ന ഏകെജിയുടെ പ്രേരണയിലാണ് ആദ്യനാടകം രചിച്ചത്. ‘ഈ വെളിച്ചം നിങ്ങളുടേതാകുന്നു’ എന്ന നാടകത്തിൽ അഭിനയിച്ചത് എംപിമാരായിരുന്ന കെ സി ജോർജ് , പി ടി പുന്നൂസ്, ഇമ്പിച്ചി ബാവ, വി പി നായർ തുടങ്ങിയവരാണ്. 1963ൽ പരീക്ഷണ നാടകവേദി രൂപീകരിച്ചു. ‘ചെരിപ്പു കടിക്കില്ല’ എന്ന നാടകത്തിൽ നടൻ മധുവും അഭിനയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
