കോട്ടയം :ജനുവരി മാസത്തെ പ്രവർത്തന മികവിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ മികച്ച സ്റ്റേഷനായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതിനെ തുടർന്ന് കോട്ടയം ജില്ലാ പോലീസ് മേധാവി ഷാഹുൽഹമീദ് ഐ.പി.എസിൽ നിന്ന് ട്രോഫി ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങിയതിനു തൊട്ടടുത്ത ദിവസമാണ് ഗാന്ധിനഗർ സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ റാഗിങ്ങുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പരാതി ലഭിക്കുന്നത്. ഉടൻതന്നെ റാഗിങ്ങിന് ഇരയാക്കപ്പെട്ട വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയുടെ വിശദമായ മൊഴിയെടുക്കുകയും, ക്രൂരമായ റാഗിങ് നടത്തിയ പ്രതികളും ഇവരുടെ സീനിയർ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുമായ അഞ്ചുപേർക്കെതിരെ കേസ് രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്യുകയും മണിക്കൂറുകൾക്കുള്ളിൽ തന്നെ ഇവരെ പിടികൂടുകയുമായിരുന്നു. എസ്.എച്ച്.ഓ ടി.ശ്രീജിത്തിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ഗാന്ധിനഗർ പോലീസ് നടത്തിയ സമയോചിതമായ ഇടപെടൽ മൂലമാണ് അഞ്ചുപേരെയും പിടികൂടാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞത്. കോടതിയിൽ ഹാജരാക്കിയ ഇവരെ റിമാൻഡ് ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തു. കേരള മനസ്സാക്ഷിയെ ഞെട്ടിച്ച ഈ കേസിൽ ഗാന്ധിനഗർ പോലീസിന്റെ കൃത്യമായ ഇടപെടൽ പ്രശംസനീയമാണ്. ഇതിനുമുമ്പ് ജനുവരി മാസം മൂന്നാം തീയതി ആന്ധ്രപ്രദേശിൽ നിന്നും ശബരിമല ദർശനത്തിനായി വന്ന തീർത്ഥാടകൻ ട്രെയിനിൽ നിന്നും വീണതറിഞ്ഞ് ഗാന്ധിനഗർ എസ്.എച്ച്.ഓ യുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള പോലീസ് സംഘം റെയിൽവേ ട്രാക്കുകളിലും, സമീപത്തെ കുറ്റിക്കാടുകളിലും രാത്രിയിൽ ടോർച്ചും, മൊബൈൽ വെട്ടവും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ശക്തമായി തിരച്ചിൽ നടത്തിയതിനെ തുടർന്ന് അടിച്ചിറ റെയിൽവേ ഗേറ്റിന് സമീപത്തു നിന്നും പരിക്കുകളോടെ തീർത്ഥാടകനെ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും തുടർന്ന് ഇയാളെ സ്ട്രക്ചറിൽ മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജ് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ എത്തിച്ച് ജീവൻ രക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ, ചുങ്കം ഭാഗത്തെ മരുന്നു മൊത്ത വിതരണ സ്ഥാപനം കുത്തിത്തുറന്ന് പണവും മൊബൈൽ ഫോണും കവർന്നവരെ മണിക്കൂറുകൾക്കകം ഗാന്ധിനഗർ പോലീസ് പിടികൂടൂകയൂം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. ഇതുകൂടാതെ ഗാന്ധിനഗർ സ്റ്റേഷൻ പരിധിയിൽ നിന്ന് യുവതിയെ കാണാനില്ല എന്ന പരാതിയെ തുടർന്ന് നടത്തിയ അന്വേഷണത്തിൽ പോലീസ് യുവതിയെ കണ്ടെത്തി കോടതിയിൽ ഹാജരാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഗാന്ധിനഗർ പോലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരുടെ കൃത്യമായ ഇടപെടലിനെയും പെരുമാറ്റത്തെയും പ്രശംസിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് മനുഷ്യാവകാശ പ്രവർത്തകനായ ജോണി വർഗീസ് എന്നയാൾ സംസ്ഥാന പോലീസ് മേധാവിക്ക് തുറന്ന കത്ത് എഴുതുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.
ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള മാതൃകാപരമായ പ്രവർത്തികളിലൂടെയും, കുറ്റവാളികൾക്കെതിരെ നിയമനടപടികൾ കർശനമാക്കിയും മികവുകൊണ്ട് വീണ്ടും കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ തന്നെ മികച്ച സ്റ്റേഷനായി മാറിയിരിക്കുകയാണ് ഗാന്ധിനഗർ.
