സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ കാരുണ്യ സുരക്ഷാ പദ്ധതിയ്ക്കും കാരുണ്യ ബെനവലന്റ് ഫണ്ട് പദ്ധതിയ്ക്കുമായി 124.63 കോടി രൂപ അനുവദിച്ചതായി ആരോഗ്യ വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി വീണാ ജോര്‍ജ്. 75.66 കോടി രൂപ കാരുണ്യ സുരക്ഷാ പദ്ധതിയ്ക്കും 49.3 കോടി രൂപ കാരുണ്യ ബെനവലന്റ് ഫണ്ട് പദ്ധതിയ്ക്കുമായാണ് അനുവദിച്ചത്. കാരുണ്യ സുരക്ഷാ പദ്ധതിയുടെ നടത്തിപ്പ് ചുമതലയുള്ള സ്റ്റേറ്റ് ഹെല്‍ത്ത് ഏജന്‍സിയിലൂടെ ഈ തുക സൗജന്യ ചികത്സ നല്‍കിയ ആശുപത്രികള്‍ക്ക് വിതരണം ചെയ്തു. സ്റ്റേറ്റ് ഹെല്‍ത്ത് ഏജന്‍സിയിലൂടെ നടപ്പിലാക്കി വരുന്ന കാരുണ്യ ബെനവലന്റ് ഫണ്ട് പദ്ധതിക്കായി ലോട്ടറി വകുപ്പ് മുഖേനയാണ് തുക അനുവദിച്ചത്. ഈ തുക പദ്ധതിയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള ആശുപത്രികള്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കിയതായും മന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു.

കഴിഞ്ഞ 3 വര്‍ഷവും രാജ്യത്ത് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ സൗജന്യ ചികിത്സ നല്‍കിയതിനുള്ള ആരോഗ്യ മന്ഥന്‍ പുരസ്‌കാരം കേരളത്തിനാണ് ലഭിച്ചത്. 5 വര്‍ഷം കൊണ്ട് 25.17 ലക്ഷം പേര്‍ക്ക് ആകെ 7708 കോടിയുടെ സൗജന്യ ചികിത്സയാണ് നല്‍കിയത്. കാസ്പ് വഴി 24.06 ലക്ഷം പേര്‍ക്ക് 7163 കോടിയുടെ സൗജന്യ ചികിത്സയും കാരുണ്യ ബനവലന്റ് ഫണ്ട് വഴി 64075 പേര്‍ക്ക് 544 കോടിയുടെ സൗജന്യ ചികിത്സയും നല്‍കി.
