എത്യോപ്യൻ പാർലമെന്റിന്റെ സംയുക്ത സമ്മേളനത്തെ ഇന്ന് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ശ്രീ നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്തു. എത്യോപ്യയിലേക്ക് ആദ്യ ഉഭയകക്ഷി സന്ദർശനത്തിനെത്തിയ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിക്ക് ലഭിച്ച പ്രത്യേക ബഹുമതിയാണിത്.
എത്യോപ്യയിലെ നിയമനിർമ്മാതാക്കൾക്ക് ഇന്ത്യൻ ജനതയുടെ സൗഹൃദത്തിലൂന്നിയ ആശംസകൾ നേർന്നുകൊണ്ടാണ് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ  പ്രസംഗം ആരംഭിച്ചത്. പാർലമെന്റിനെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യാനും എത്യോപ്യയിലെ സാധാരണക്കാരായ കർഷകർ, സംരംഭകർ, അഭിമാനികളായ സ്ത്രീകൾ, യുവാക്കൾ എന്നിവരോട് സംസാരിക്കാനും കഴിഞ്ഞത് ഒരു ബഹുമതിയാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. എത്യോപ്യയിലെ ഗ്രേറ്റ് ഓണർ നിഷാൻ എന്ന പരമോന്നത ബഹുമതി തനിക്ക് സമ്മാനിച്ചതിന് എത്യോപ്യയിലെ ജനങ്ങൾക്കും സർക്കാരിനും അദ്ദേഹം നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു. ബന്ധത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യം കണക്കിലെടുക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഇരു രാജ്യങ്ങളും തമ്മിലുള്ള വർഷങ്ങൾ പഴക്കമുള്ള ബന്ധം സന്ദർശന വേളയിൽ തന്ത്രപരമായ പങ്കാളിത്തത്തിലേക്ക് ഉയർത്തപ്പെട്ടതിൽ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി അഗാധമായ സംതൃപ്തി പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.
ഇന്ത്യയും എത്യോപ്യയും തമ്മിലുള്ള നാഗരിക ബന്ധങ്ങളെ അനുസ്മരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, ഇരു രാജ്യങ്ങളും പുരാതന ജ്ഞാനവും ആധുനിക അഭിലാഷവും സംയോജിപ്പിക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ, ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ദേശീയ ഗാനമായ “വന്ദേമാതരം”, എത്യോപ്യൻ ദേശീയ ഗാനം എന്നിവ രണ്ടും അവരുടെ രാജ്യത്തെ മാതാവ് എന്നാണ് പരാമർശിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി. ഇരു രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെയും പങ്കിട്ട പോരാട്ടത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് പരാമർശിക്കുമ്പോൾ, 1941 ൽ സഹ എത്യോപ്യക്കാരുടെ വിമോചനത്തിനായി പോരാടിയ ഇന്ത്യൻ സൈനികരുടെ സംഭാവനകളെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി എടുത്തുപറഞ്ഞു. എത്യോപ്യൻ ജനതയുടെ ത്യാഗങ്ങളെ പ്രതീകപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന അദ്‌വ വിജയ സ്മാരകത്തിൽ ശ്രദ്ധാഞ്ജലി അർപ്പിക്കുന്നത് തനിക്ക് ഒരു ബഹുമതിയാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
