കോഴിക്കോട്: പ്രശസ്ത സാഹിത്യകാരനും ജ്ഞാനപീഠം ജേതാവുമായ എം.ടി വാസുദേവന് നായര് (91) അന്തരിച്ചു. . കോഴിക്കോട്ടെ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ ഹൃദയസംബന്ധമായ അസുഖത്തെ തുടർന്ന് ചികിത്സയിലിരിക്കെ ഇന്ന് രാത്രിയോടെയാണ് മരണം സംഭവിച്ചത്.
ഏഴുപതിറ്റാണ്ട് എഴുത്തിന്റെ ഇതിഹാസമായി മലയാളത്തിൽ നിറഞ്ഞ് നിന്ന അതുല്യ പ്രതിഭയെയാണ് മലയാളത്തിന് നഷ്ടമാകുന്നത് എഴുത്തുകാരനപ്പുറം തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തായും സംവിധായകനായും ഇന്ത്യന് സിനിമയിലും പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകള് തലയെടുപ്പോടെ നിന്ന പ്രതിഭയായിരുന്നു എം.ടി.1933 ജൂലായ് 15-ന് പൊന്നാനി താലൂക്കിലെ കൂടല്ലൂരിലായിരുന്നു എം.ടിയുടെ ജനനം. പുന്നയൂര്ക്കുളം ടി. നാരായണന് നായരും അമ്മാളുഅമ്മയുമാണ് മാതാപിതാക്കള്. നാല് ആണ്മക്കളില് ഇളയ മകന്. മലമക്കാവ് എലിമെന്ററി സ്കൂള്, കുമരനെല്ലൂര് ഹൈസ്കൂള് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ പ്രാഥമിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനുശേഷം പാലക്കാട് വിക്ടോറിയ കോളേജില്നിന്ന് 1953-ല് രസതന്ത്രത്തില് ബിരുദം നേടി. കുറച്ചുകാലം അധ്യാപകന്. തുടര്ന്ന് 1956-ല് മാതൃഭൂമിയില് സബ് എഡിറ്ററായി ദീര്ഘകാലത്തെ ഔദ്യോഗിക സേവനത്തിനു തുടക്കം.1958-ല് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച ‘നാലുകെട്ട്’ ആണ് ആദ്യം പുസ്തകരൂപത്തില് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചത്. തകരുന്ന നായര് തറവാടുകളെയും അതിലെ മനുഷ്യരുടെ അന്തഃക്ഷോഭങ്ങളെയും ആവിഷ്കരിച്ച ഈ കൃതി 1959-ലെ കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം നേടി.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children.
