പാലക്കാട്: പരതൂർ കുളമുക്കിൽ ആചാരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി കാഞ്ഞിരത്തിന്റെ കായ കഴിച്ച യുവാവിന് ദാരുണാന്ത്യം. കുളമുക്ക് സ്വദേശി ഷൈജു (43) ബുധനാഴ്ച രാത്രിയാണ് മരിച്ചത്. ബുധനാഴ്ച ക്ഷേത്ര ചടങ്ങിന്റെ ഭാഗമായ ‘ആട്ടി’നിടെയാണ് (തുള്ളൽ) യുവാവ് കാഞ്ഞിരത്തിന്റെ കായ കഴിച്ചത്.അഞ്ഞൂറിലേറെ ആളുകൾ എത്തിയ പരിപാടിയിലാണ് സംഭവം. ചടങ്ങിൽ വെളിച്ചപ്പാടായി തുള്ളിയത് ഷൈജുവാണ്. ആചാരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി ഒരു തളികയിൽ ഫലമൂലാദികൾ നൽകും. വെളിച്ചപ്പാട് ഇത് കഴിക്കണം. സാധാരണ ഗതിയിൽ കടിച്ച് തുപ്പുകയാണ് പതിവെങ്കിലും, ഷൈജു രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ കാഞ്ഞിരക്കായ കഴിച്ചെന്നാണ് വിവരം.വീട്ടിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിയെത്തിയ ഷൈജുവിന് ദേഹാസ്വാസ്ഥ്യം അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു. പിന്നാലെ പട്ടാമ്പിയിലെ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ എത്തിച്ചെങ്കിലും യാത്രാമധ്യേ മരിച്ചിരുന്നു. സംഭവത്തിൽ തൃത്താല പൊലീസ് അസ്വാഭാവിക മരണത്തിന് കേസെടുത്തു.
