പമ്പയിൽ നിന്ന് സന്നിധാനത്തേക്കുള്ള പാതയിൽ മണ്ണിടിച്ചിലിനും മലവെള്ളപ്പാച്ചിലിനും സാദ്ധ്യതയുള്ളതിനാൽ മലകയറുന്നതിനും ഇറങ്ങുന്നതിനും നിയന്ത്രണമുണ്ട്. വിവിധ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിൽ കൺട്രോൾ റൂമുകളും സജ്ജമാണ്. ഇന്നലെ മഴയും മൂടൽമഞ്ഞും മൂലം തീർത്ഥാടകരുടെ എണ്ണത്തിൽ കുറവുണ്ടായി.ശനിയാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ട് തുടങ്ങിയ മഴ ഞായറാഴ്‌ച വൈകിട്ട് വരെ തുടർന്ന സാഹചര്യം ശബരിമലയിൽ ഉണ്ടായി. സന്നിധാനം,പമ്പ,നിലയ്ക്കൽ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ മണിക്കൂറിൽ രണ്ട് സെന്റീമീറ്റർ മഴയ്ക്കും 40 കിലോമീറ്റർ വേഗത്തിൽ കാറ്റിനും സാദ്ധ്യതയുള്ളതിനാൽ മഞ്ഞ അലർട്ട് പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചിരുന്നു. 2011 ൽ മലവെള്ളപ്പാച്ചിൽ ഉണ്ടായ ചരൽമേട്ടിൽ സംയുക്തസേന പ്രത്യേക നിരീക്ഷണം ഏർപ്പെടുത്തി.
